Seneca's
Sedona Gala Affair, NA (Novice Agility) NJ (Novice Jumpers), OA (Open
Agility) OJ (Open Jumpers) and she is working on her Excellent A agility
titles right now. (She also has her Novice Preferred NAP and Novice Jumpers
Preferred NJP).
Seneca Bona Fide Bold Bandit, NJ...is presently working on his Open title
in jumpers and has two more legs to earn his Novice Standard title or
NA.
Well, things are coming together after my attending that workshop this
summer with Stacey Perdot, who is well known in the sport of agility.
I also hosted an agility workshop at my home in which Roger Coor of the
AKC Agility World Team taught. I feel much more confident in working with
my dogs but I'll tell you I have lots more to learn. And these dogs are
such a joy to work with! You surely breed them right.
One of the judges at the last trial made it a point of coming up to
talk with me about Gala and Bandit. She was very impressed with their
focus and desire to work.
I think they are great ambassadors for the sport and do much to dispel
the Air Head bad press

We
competed in our first agility trial here in Washington the first weekend
of May. It was both dogs first time at and indoor venue so I was just
hoping for good focus etc. Also, we had only been able to practice on
equipment the week before the trial.
Sat. all kinds of weird things happened. Not just to my guys but many
dogs. In the Excellent Standard classes dogs were refusing to go on the
dogwalk and others were jumping off. Gala did go on for me put lifted
up
her paws after sniffing the equipment and looked at me as if to say,
"This is icky." (Strange coming from a dog who loves horse poop.)
Even so, people from the local club who sponsored the show and
other terrier handlers were coming up to me wanting to know where these
dogs were from. They said they had never seen Airedales with so much drive.
And of course, everyone thinks Bandit is absolutely beautiful.
Sunday was a totally different story. Gala earned another Excellent Jumpers
leg and took first (she only needs one more leg to finish that title.)
Bandit finished his Novice Standard title taking a third. Then he earned
a leg in Open Jumpers taking a first. (Mind you, this was only his 5th
trial.)

Bandit
(lst Ochocho Pete and Jalamonis June litter) has earned his Open Jumpers
title in less that a year of competing. (He began running agility in Nov.
2004) He was the only 24" dog to complete the course the day he finished
his title and also had a Qualifying run in Open Standard taking a first
place. So he double Q's that day. He needs only one more leg in Open Standard
to have his title in that event as well
Gala earned her second Ex.
B Jumpers leg. She was one of 9 dogs who qualified in a field of 30 dogs
in the 20" jump height that day. She was fifth place just 10ths of
a second behind the top four dogs which were all Border Collies.
Every time I trial, people always comment on how athletic both dogs are
(Gala is now 5, Bandit is 3) and how much drive they have. They always
say they have never seen Airedales who move so well and are so happy on
the course.
I don't know if either of my dogs will ever earn a MACH but I think they
have really represented the breed well in the sport of agility.
Say, when are you going to have that page on your website featuring performance
dogs in action from your kennels?

Gala (
one of Bo's daughters with Katie, 1999) just finished
her Excellent A Standard title (AX) Sunday, Jan. 16. She was third in
her 20" jump category. The same day she also took a third in Excellent
B Jumpers With Weaves. So that gave her a double Q. She is on her way
to her MX and MXJ and can also earn points toward her MACH on the way.
People were raving about how beautifully she ran that day. She just seems
to get better and better...She has incredible heart! When she finishes
her agility career, I plan to get her involved in Rally. What little we
have done with it, she loves.
Bandit
still needs one more leg to finish his Open Standard title
but is running in Excellent A Jumpers with Weaves and doing well.
He
is also serving as a Delta Society therapy dog in a local Retirement home
and everyone there just loves him. He is such a smooch. I believe he will
also be a great candidate for Rally too. He is such a joy to train. There
is not anything that dog would not do for me. (Well, except jump on the
table at an agility trial from time to time. Go figure. In practice, he
never misses.)

Hi Nancy, I know from
your website that you are busy with puppies again. I realized after reading
that it was another "Bo" litter so I thought I would write you
about his daughter Seneca's Sedona Gala Affair. "Gala" earned
her MXJ last Sunday at a local agility trial. On Saturday, she earned
another leg toward her MX (she now needs only two to finish that title)
running 13 seconds under course time. She now has 140 speed points toward
her MACH and 4 Double Q's under her belt. It will take us a while to earn
those other 16 Double Q's/160 speed points but we are going to have lots
of fun on the way. What a joy to run with this dog.
By the way Bandit just needs one more leg to finish his AX. He already
has his AXJ.
So, wish us luck. We will be practicing, practicing and practicing until
our next trial the first weekend in Nov.

Currently, Gala
has 14 double Q's and 406 speed points toward her MACH. My goal is to
finish that title before she is 9!
She has qualified
for the AKC Agility Invitational, to be held December 1 and 2, 2007.
The finals will be televised on Animal Planet in Feburary, 2008!
